Background
As a child I was always a keen sportsman and loved football, rugby and often competed in track and field events such as running and high jump. As I got older I got into martial arts and boxing. I liked their physical nature and found that I had a natural flexibility and speed that lent itself well to the sport. This led to a brown belt in Kung Fu.
I was a nightclub doorman for 20 years and throughout this time always wanted to get bigger and stronger. This led to me joining Severnside, a local gym in my hometown of Gloucester. I started to train with the power lifting guys and got noticed by the gym owner as having a lot of potential. He asked me on more than one occasion to enter the county championship but I wasn’t interested in competing against guys that were on drugs and didn’t think I’d stand a chance. Eventually though, I agreed and won! It felt great and such an achievement. Since

Muhammad Ali for his motivation of millions - his great sporting achievements, his self-belief and motivation. To be a world champion 3 times over is just fantastic.

then I’ve never looked back and have won a number of titles, all of which are listed on the achievements page of this site. But most notably, the World Masters Champion 2006 in Australia, where I broke two world records and brought home four gold medals.
